BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Wagner College women's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Sydney Mulroony has been named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week following her performance against New Haven, announced by the conference on Monday.
Against the Chargers, Mulroony filled the stat sheet with a season-best four goals to go along with a season-high nine ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a season-high five draw controls in the Seahawks' 14-9 conference win on Hameline Field.
On the season, the Rockaway, New Jersey native has scored eight goals to go along with six assists, a team-high 24 ground balls, and is second on the team in caused turnovers with nine and draw controls with 14.
Mulroony secured her first conference Defensive Player of the Week nod against Delaware State back on March 14. Against the Hornets, Mulroony scored two goals to go along with one assist, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers in the Seahawks' 18-3 conference opener.
Mulroony is the first Seahawk to receive back-to-back NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors since Aileen Hannan earned the two distinctions back during the 2023 season.
With the win, the Green & White improved to 2-0 in NEC play, and are outscoring conference opponents 32-12 to start the NEC slate.
Along with Mulroony, senior midfielder Kristina Pisano was named a conference Prime Performer after scoring four goals with two assists, four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw controls against New Haven.
Next up, Mulroony, Pisano, and the rest of the Seahawks head to NEC rival LIU for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday, March 25.
