SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Wagner College women's lacrosse team fell to NEC opponent Le Moyne by a score of 9-8 in overtime on Saturday.
The Seahawks (3-7, 3-1 NEC) trailed 3-1 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Senior captain Shea Saracino scored the lone goal for Wagner on a free-position shot to earn her eighth goal of the year.
Wagner and Le Moyne both scored two goals in the second quarter. The Dolphins (9-2, 4-0 NEC) possessed a 5-3 lead at halftime. Sophomore Sydney Mulroony and junior Amelia Logan were responsible for Wagner's second period scores.
The Seahawks made it a one-goal game at the end of the third, outscoring the Dolphins 2-1 in the frame. Saracino and Logan found their second goals of the contest.
In the fourth, Saracino and Mulrooney went back-to-back to begin the frame making it a 7-7 game. Le Moyne's Maddi Barney quickly responded to make it 8-7 before Amelia Logan nailed her third of the game with 3:52 to make it an 8-8 game.
In overtime, the Dolphins scored the sudden-death overtime goal 3:47 into the period on a woman-up opportunity following a Wagner green card. With the loss, Wagner fell to second in the NEC in a three-way tie with Stonehill and LIU.
Saracino and Logan recorded hat-tricks for the Seahawks. Mulrooney added two goals and three assists. Junior Alex Wright collected five draw controls, caused one turnover, and picked up two ground balls. Sophomore Sadie Orefice led the team with three ground balls.
In net, junior Grace Decarolis recorded six saves in her 60 minutes.
