Box Score 2 SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — The Wagner softball team lost both games of their doubleheader against Seton Hall on Wednesday.
In the first game, the Seahawks took an early 1-0 lead against the Pirates when freshman center fielder
Ava Nawrocki hit a two-out, RBI double in the top of the second inning, which scored junior second baseman
Leilani Gonzales from first.
Seton Hall responded with a run in the third on back-to-back doubles, then took a 2-1 lead in the fourth after an error in the field allowed a run to score from first.
Wagner tied the game in the top of the fifth with a bases-loaded walk from senior first baseman
Geanice Morales, but the Pirates would answer with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Two RBI-doubles and a sacrifice fly gave Seton Hall a 5-2 lead, and one more double in the sixth gave the hosts a 6-2 victory.
The Seahawks were shut out in the second game, picking up only two hits throughout the contest. Six different Pirates collected RBI's as they scored two runs in the third inning, and four runs in the fifth inning to secure the 6-0 win.
Wagner will begin its NEC slate on Saturday, March 14, when it will play a doubleheader against Stonehill at the CSI Softball Complex. The first game will start at 2 p.m., and the second game will start at approximately 4 p.m.
