Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wagner softball team lost the final game of the Charge on Classic Sunday morning, falling to Dartmouth 9-0 in five innings.
It was a slow day at the plate for the Seahawks, as doubles from freshman catcher
Lanie Doukas and junior second baseman
Leilani Gonzales were the only base runners they could muster against Dartmouth's pitching.
Offensively, the Big Green scored all of their runs in the last three innings of the shortened game. After an RBI single in the third, Dartmouth plated five runs in the fourth, thanks to a three-run, two-out triple sandwiched in between two more RBI hits to give it a 6-0 lead. A three-run, four-hit fifth inning gave Darthmouth a 9-0 lead, officially putting the game out of reach.
Gonzales' double in the bottom of the fifth was not enough, and the Seahawks finished their Florida trip 1-4.
The Seahawks will return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 4, when they travel to Queens and take on St. John's at the Red Storm Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
