Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wagner softball team was shut out against George Washington 13-0, in the second-to-last game of the Charge On Classic on Saturday.
The Wagner defense held the Revolutionaries to just two runs through the first three innings, keeping themselves in the game. But despite collecting five hits in that span, the Seahawks could not send those runners home, and the game remained 2-0.
Then George Washington opened the floodgates in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs (three unearned) on eight hits and an error from the Wagner defense. In the next inning, George Washington sent a three-run home run over the left field wall to put the game officially out of reach. The game ended 13-0 after Wagner came up empty in the bottom of the fifth.
Bright spots for the Seahawks included sophomore
Gia Spinelli and senior
Lea Rachal, who each picked up a pair of hits in the loss.
The Seahawks will complete their trip to Florida with a rematch against Dartmouth on Sunday, March 1. First pitch is set for 9 a.m.
