Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wagner softball team lost both games on Day 2 of the Charge on Classic, falling to Dartmouth 6-0 in the morning game, then dropping the second game against host UCF, 9-1 in five innings.
The Seahawk offense produced only three hits in the first game against the Big Green. The bats were able to put the ball in play, only striking out twice in 30 total plate appearances. However, they were not able to plate a run against Dartmouth's starter.
After maintaining a 3-0 lead through the first five innings of play, Dartmouth put the game out of reach in the sixth with a three-run bases-clearing double. The Seahawks went down 1-2-3 in the seventh inning, as they lost 6-0.
In the afternoon, Wagner faced off against a UCF team that had received votes in the most recent NCAA poll.
In the first inning, the Knights scored five runs on just one hit and five bases-loaded walks. They would go on to score a run in each of the next four innings, ending the game via run rule with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, 9-1.
Wagner's only run came in the second inning, thanks to an RBI single from junior second baseman
Leilani Gonzales, her fourth RBI of the young season.
The Seahawks will continue the Charge on Classic tomorrow, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. when they play George Washington. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
