STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wagner finished with 79 team points en route to finishing third at the 2026 NEC Indoor Championships.
The Seahawks added 31 points from sprint events, 24 from distance races, 14 in the jumps, nine from the relays and one from throws. The team finished behind conference champion CCSU with 135 points and second-place Stonehill, who put up 91.50 team points.
The Seahawks took home seven total medals — one gold, one silver and five bronze, as well as splitting a share of the Most Valuable Performer award for the sprints.
Leading the charge was sophomore Christine Manneh, who took home gold in the 200m final with a 24.63-second time, as well as finishing third in the 60m final to start the day with bronze. She also ran the 400m and the anchor leg of the team's 4x400 relay. The massive effort earned her a share of the Most Valuable Performer award for the sprinters, which she split with CCSU's Nuchawara Inthasit. This is Wagner's second consecutive season earning the award, with senior Ruth-Ann Chambers taking it home last season.
Taking home Wagner's silver medal was junior June Fernandez, whose 57.78-second time in the 400m put her in second place of the eight runners to qualify for the final.
In addition to Manneh's 60m bronze, senior Angelina Olah won bronze in the 500m with a 1:18.06 as Wagner's lone qualifier for the final.
Junior Magui Calvo-Jorge continues to dominate in the 800m, taking bronze with a 2:17.01 time. Just behind with a photo finish to decide came graduate Ana Blanco Duran, who finished fourth after also running a 2:17.01 time in the event.
Sophomore Rylee Ferretti, continuing to be a dominant distance runner for the Seahawks, took home bronze in the 5,000m, battling for a 17:15.68 finish. Joining Ferretti was senior Angela Cavalieri, who logged an 18:26.80 time to finish in tenth.
Wagner's final medal of the meet was a group effort, with the distance medley relay team winning bronze after a 12:23.10 time. Junior Victoria Ann Dziubela led off, then sophomore Jasmine Burney, Blanco Duran and Calvo closed things out.
Dziubela also finished seventh in the mile with a 5:10.63 time as her other race on Monday, not able to compete in the 800m final after another runner caused her to fall in the preliminary.
Junior Dayana Rodriguez logged a 13.80m weight throw to finish eighth in a field of 23 as Wagner's representative in the throws.
Adding three points to the Seahawks' total with a sixth-place finish in triple jump, sophomore Mia Petersen logged an 11.46m jump to round out her second indoor season on Grymes Hill. Graduate Jovana Miloradovic added an 11.44m jump to finish in seventh for two more team points. A third Seahawk to score team points in the triple jump, senior Julia Garcia posted an 11.36m jump.
This was the team's final meet of indoor season. Next up, the Seahawks have roughly a month off competing before their outdoor season begins.
