STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wagner's men are sitting in second place after the first day of the 2026 NEC Indoor Championship.
The Seahawks are ten points behind the leaders in CCSU, who sit in first with 35 team points. Wagner's 25 points come via eight distance points, six points from throws and 11 from jumps.
Junior Khalid Brown won bronze for the Seahawks in long jump with a 7.02m performance, adding six team points alongside sophomore Ty Lawless, whose 7.00m jump was good for fourth place and five more points. Lawless, Brown and sophomore Matthew Menechino are set to compete in the triple jump on Monday.
Graduate Florian Hinry will run in the mile final after winning bronze in the 3,000m on Sunday with an 8:36.83 time. Graduate Justin Morris, senior Matthew Seta and freshman Joel Solomon will run the 5,000m on Monday, also likely representatives for the Seahawks in the distance medley relay.
Rounding out Wagner's medal winners from Sunday, senior Christopher Milillo added six team points with a bronze medal in weight throw. He logged an 18.44m to finish 0.54m behind New Haven's Jimmy Oreste in first. Senior Franklin Simms will compete in shot put on Monday as the other half of Wagner's pair of throwers.
In Monday's finals for the track events, freshman Noah Grant and senior Alex Taddeo qualified for the 60m final. Freshman Julio Tatis will represent the Seahawks in the 400m after logging a 49.98 time in the preliminary as one of 12 qualifiers for the final. Tatis and Grant also qualified for the 200m final. Wagner will also run the 4x400 relay.
Senior Julio Martinez, senior Eskil Njerve and sophomore Amir Shokry will all compete in the men's pole vault final to hunt a medal.
The championship will wrap up on Monday, Feb. 16 with events beginning at 9:45 a.m. EST and closing ceremonies projected to begin at 2 p.m. EST.
