RIVERDALE, N.Y. — The Wagner College men's lacrosse team suffered a 10-5 defeat at MAAC member Manhattan in the Seahawks' first road game of the 2026 season at Gaelic Park.
Wagner (0-2, 0-0 NEC) was held scoreless in the first quarter while Manhattan (1-2, 0-0 MAAC) found the back of the net three times to take a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes of play.
The Seahawks outscored the Jaspers 3-1 in the second period to close the gap to two at the break. For Wagner, senior Smith Callaghan scored the first two goals while freshman Dylan Popehn scored his third goal in his first two collegiate games.
In the third, Manhattan extended its advantage to five after a 3-0 period to lead 8-3.
Graduate student Theo Kostakos scored both of Wagner's man-up goals in the fourth quarter; concurrently, Manhattan scored two goals itself in the fourth quarter to prevail, 10-5.
Senior Jake Mitchell was responsible for two assists on the day.
Defensively, junior Angus Snow saved 15 shots, the second-most in Snow's career at Wagner. Senior Nico Kross and junior Colin Sabia both caused two turnovers while freshman Trenton Rock collected three ground balls to lead the roster.
As a team, the Seahawks took 34 shots, 18 of which were on target, committed 15 turnovers, went 10-18 (55.5%) on clears, collected 19 ground balls, won five face-offs, and went 3-6 (50.0%) on man-up opportunities.
Next up, Wagner travels to CAA member Monmouth for a 2:30 p.m. start in West Long Branch, NJ on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
