BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — The Wagner College softball team was picked fourth in the NEC's 2026 preseason poll, the conference announced Friday. This is Wagner's highest placement in the preseason poll since 2023, when it finished tied for fifth.
Last season, the Seahawks missed the NEC Tournament, finishing three games back of fourth-seeded CCSU. Despite its 9-3 conference record at home, Wagner's 1-8 record away from Grymes Hill kept it out of the tournament.
The Seahawks return all three of their All-NEC players. Sophomore infielder
Taylor Reynolds was named to the First Team, and joined fellow sophomore infielder
Alayna Giampolo on the All-Rookie Team. Junior pitcher
Karson Zavala earned Second Team honors after setting the Wagner single-season for strikeouts with 157.
The poll is listed below.
1- LIU (5)
2- CCSU (2)
3- FDU (2)
4- WAGNER
5- Le Moyne
6- Saint Francis
7- Stonehill
8- Mercyhurst
9- New Haven
The Seahawks will begin their season on Thursday, Feb. 5, when they take on UC San Diego at the La Jolla Invitational in La Jolla, California.
