Loretto, PA – The Wagner College softball team dropped the final game of its weekend series against NEC rival Saint Francis U, falling 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Flash struck early, scoring their first run in the bottom of the first inning. They continued to apply pressure, adding another run in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead.
The Seahawks were held scoreless until the top of the seventh inning, when junior Payton Janicki launched a solo home run to left center, cutting the deficit in half. Despite the late momentum, Wagner was unable to complete the comeback, as Saint Francis held on to secure the win in game three of the series.
Junior Dallas Garcia got the start in the circle for the Seahawks, tossing three innings and allowing two runs on two hits, with three walks and one strikeout. Junior Emma Crosby came on in relief, pitching three scoreless innings while giving up three hits and recording two strikeouts.
This concludes the 2025 season for the Seahawks after a hard fought season and will aiming to pick up action next season.
