Stony Brook, NY – The Wagner College softball team fell to non-conference opponent Stony Brook, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Seawolves struck early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. They continued to build on their momentum, adding three runs in the third inning and another in the fifth to extend their advantage.
The Seahawks broke through in the sixth inning when junior Geanice Morales singled to shortstop, allowing freshman Alayna Giampolo who had advanced to third to score on a fielding error. However, Wagner was unable to build on that run, and the Seawolves held on for the win.
