Staten Island, N.Y. - The Wagner women's golf team enters the 2025–26 campaign looking to build on a competitive season.
During the 2024–25 season, the Seahawks secured a home victory at the Wagner Fall Classic, a spring dual-match win over Saint Joseph's, and a seventh-place finish at the 2024 NEC Championship.
The Green & White will see a shift in leadership this fall as seniors
Ximena de la Garza,
Elise Fujita, and
Aisha Rodriguez graduated after providing steady contributions throughout their careers.
The rising senior class of
Rileigh Leighton,
Lillian McNally,
Josephine Sawyer, and
Emma Shelby will form the core of the lineup. Sawyer is expected to be a consistent scorer after showing flashes of strong play last season, while McNally and Leighton add depth and stability. Shelby has been a steady competitor and will look to cap her career with a breakout senior campaign.
Joining the seniors is sophomore
Maria Calleja, who gained valuable experience as a freshman in the 2024–25 season. Calleja brings an international playing background to the roster.
The Seahawks will once again test themselves against regional and national competition throughout the fall and spring seasons, highlighted by the annual Wagner Fall Classic at La Tourette Golf Course. The team will also seek to continue its head-to-head success after earning a dual win over Saint Joseph's and tying Hofstra last spring.
With the combination of experienced returners and developing underclassmen, Wagner's focus will be on consistency in multi-round invitational play and peaking in time for the NEC Championship in April. Under the guidance of head coach
Rick Perine, the Seahawks are looking to turn last year's progress into a leap forward in the conference standings.
The Green & White are set to begin their campaign at the Bucknell Invitational from September 4 to September 7 at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
