Lake Placid, N.Y. – The Wagner College men's golf team competed at the Columbia Autumn Invitational this past weekend, finishing 11th overall in the 13-team field at Lake Placid Club.
The Seahawks posted rounds of 292, 293, and 299 for a 54-hole total of 884 (+32).
The Green & White were paced by senior
Renato Gerena, who turned in a strong showing with a three-round score of 216 (+3) to finish tied for 21st overall. Gerena's second round stood out as he fired a 68 (-3) to climb the leaderboard.
Freshman Cooper Joyce provided consistency for Wagner with rounds of 71, 74, and 74 to finish at 219 (+6) in 36th place.
Rounding out the Seahawks' lineup, sophomore
Daniel Cassidy tied for 62nd at 228 (+15), senior
Alavid Melo Iturralde tied for 65th at 229 (+16), and sophomore
Emilio Zapiain tied for 68th at 230 (+17).
The Invitational was won by Columbia with a team score of 840 (-12), edging Dartmouth by a single stroke.
Wagner returns to action on Friday, October 3, when the Seahawks will face Saint Peter's in a one-day dual match at Charleston Springs South Golf Course in West Orange, NJ.
