Ellicott City, MD – The Wagner men's golf team opened play at the 2026 NEC Championship at Turf Valley Resort, completing the first round of action on Friday.
Sophomore
Daniel Cassidy and senior
Renato Gerena lead the way for the Green & White, currently tied for 17th place after both shot a +2 (73). Gerena rolled in five birdies on the day, while Cassidy tallied three of his own on the front nine.
Senior
Alavid Melo Iturralde is currently in 42nd place, shooting a +5 (76) with one birdie on the back nine, in hole 16. Freshman
Guillermo Ochoa Valencia sits in 50th place, shooting a +7.
Play was suspended late in the afternoon due to lightning in the area, leaving the final group to finish their last hole. The opening round will conclude first thing Saturday morning, followed immediately by second round action.
