Wappingers Falls, NY — Wagner battled hard but ultimately dropped from the Northeast Conference Tournament with an 11-1 loss to No. 1 LIU on Saturday.
After taking home a must-win earlier in the day over No. 4 Stonehill, the Seahawks ran into No. 1 LIU with the loser facing elimination and the winner looking at a championship berth. Wagner was unable to match the big production from the Sharks when it mattered most.
The Seahawks finish their season at 31-22, with a 23-7 record in NEC play. They will finish third in conference with Saturday's loss.
Sharks' starter Nicholas Finarelli threw a gem of a complete game, going all seven innings and allowing just one run on two hits. Wagner finished with the two hits, three walks and four strikeouts. It was a no-hitter through five innings, until a pop up from senior Mateo Matthews landed in shallow left behind the LIU infielders.
Graduate Lukas Torres was able to add the second hit of the game later in the inning, an RBI double to score Matthews and break the shutout.
With the loss, the Seahawks wrap up their 2025 season, finishing second in the NEC with their regular season win percentage and third in the conference tournament.
