Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team took down Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Le Moyne by a score of 11-7 on Hameline Field on Saturday.
Senior attack Ella Marino scored her first of four goals just 32 seconds into the game. Marino's early goal marked the only score of the quarter for the Seahawks.Â
Le Moyne's Reagan McQuade scored an equalizing goal with 6:09 left in the opening frame. At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied at one each.Â
In the second quarter, the Green & White outscored the Dolphins, 3-0, to possess a 4-1 lead at halftime.Â
Senior Sophia Colver tallied Wagner's first goal of the second before Ella Marino scored back-to-back times to grant the Oreland, PA native her first hat-trick of the season with four minutes remaining in the half.Â
The Seahwks struck first in the second half, senior Kendra Hall scored her team-leading 24th point of her senior year on her 15th goal less than five minutes into the second half.Â
After consecutive goals by the Dolphins to make it a 5-3 game, Marino snuck past the defense and scored her fourth goal of the contest late in the shot clock to grant the Green & White a three goal advantage midway through the third quarter.
After three quarters of play, Wagner held a 6-4 advantage over Le Moyne.Â
After ten goals in the first three quarters, the Seahawks and the Dolphins would go on to score eight goals in the fourth quarter alone.
Wagner's five fourth quarter goals came off the sticks of junior Léa Cini, Hall, senior Katie Siverson, junior Kristina Pisano, and Colver.Â
The Seahawks' fourth quarter offensive proved too much for the Dolphins as the Seahawks would prevail, 11-7.
Ella Marino finished with five total points on four goals and one assist. Sophia Colver finished with three points as she scored two goals and had one assist, while Kendra Hall finished with two points for scoring her two goals.Â
Defensively, junior Erin Rooney collected six ground balls and earned five draw controls. Senior Angelina Skowronski collected four draw controls and recorded two ground balls while sophomore Alex Wright recorded four draw controls of her own. Â
In net, sophomore Grace DeCarolis saved eight shots, bringing her season total 94 saves and earning her eighth win as a Wagner Seahawk all-time.
As a team, Wagner collected six more draw controls and seven more ground balls while putting six more shots on target than Le Moyne.
With the victory, the Seahawks climb to 4-6 on their 2025 campaign with a conference record of 4-1. The Dolphins fall to 3-9 on their year with a 2-3 record in NEC play.Â
Next up, Wagner will travel to Dover, DE for a meeting with Delaware State on Saturday, April 12. Opening draw control is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
