Detroit, MI - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-11 loss against Northeast Conference (NEC) affiliate newcomer Detroit Mercy on Titan Field on Saturday.
The Green & White jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game thanks to two junior Jake Mitchell scores and an early senior Patrick Caldwell goal to get the ball rolling for the Seahawks.
At the end of the first quarter, Wagner held a 3-1 lead over Detroit Mercy.
Freshman Jacob Bass connected on his first goal of his Wagner career with 12:46 remaining in the second quarter to extend the Seahawks' lead to 4-1.
For the remainder of the half, Detroit Mercy would outscore the Seahawks, 5-2, to tie the game at six at the intermission.Â
Caldwell netted his second goal of the game midway through the period while junior Ethan Sieb found the back of the net with six ticks remaining in the half.
In the second half, Detroit Mercy outscored Wagner, 9-5. Mitchell and Caldwell both came away with their respective hat-tricks, scoring one goal in the second half to end the game with three scores.
Freshman Sean Sanchez put away two goals in the second half, one in the third quarter and one in the fourth.Â
Sophomore Danny McMahon added his team-leading 19th goal of the season in the third quarter, off of an assist from junior Smith Callaghan.Â
On defense, junior Nico Kross led the Seahawks with four caused turnovers and two ground balls. Junior Tristan McMahon and sophomore Ian Muchineuta both collected four ground balls.Â
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-11 on their 2025 season, with a 1-4 mark in conference play.Â
With the win, the Titans climb to 3-6 overall, with a 2-3 mark in NEC action.
Next up, Wagner will host VMI on Saturday, April 19 as a part of its 'Senior Day' on Hameline Field. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
