Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team won its third consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) game after taking down the FDU Knights by a score of 16-9 on Hameline Field on Saturday.
At 3-1 in NEC play, the Seahawks are tied with the LIU Sharks for second place in the conference standings, as the Stonehill Skyhawks sit in first place at 4-0.
Wagner jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, outscoring FDU 7-3 in the first 15 minutes of action. Five different Seahawks - senior Katie Siverson, senior Kendra Hall, sophomore Léa Cini, graduate student Nia Scott, and sophomore Amelia Logan - scored in the opening frame.
Siverson and Cini both scored two goals in the first quarter.
The Green & White scored four goals to FDU's three in the second quarter to head into halftime with an 11-6 lead over the Knights.
In the second, Siverson netted her third of the contest, Hall her second, while junior Kristina Pisano and senior Sophia Colver added their first goals of the day.
At the half, the Seahawks outshot the Knights, 21-11, with 16 on goal compared to nine on goal for the Knights. Wagner collected seven more ground balls than FDU in the first half, corralling 14 compared to the Knights' seven.
To begin the second half, Wagner would go onto a 5-0 run to extend its lead to double-digits with 10 minutes to go in the third.
In the third quarter, Katie Siverson scored her fourth goal of the contest, bringing her season total to a team-high 18. Additionally, Siverson netted her third, Logan and Colver their second, while senior Ella Marino scored the final goal of the game for the Seahawks, bringing the score to 16-6.
Wagner would go on to win, 16-9, over FDU.
Hall and Logan led the offensive attack with five points each. Siverson netted four goals, Colver finished the game with two goals and one assist while Cini and Marino both added two points to their season totals. Scott and Pisano each scored one goal.
Senior Angelina Skowronksi collected a team-high six draw controls, two ground balls, and caused two turnovers.
In net, sophomore Grace DeCarolis saved eight shots to earn her third win of the season and seventh all-time as a Seahawk. On the year, DeCarolis has denied 78 shots and gathered 18 ground balls.Â
As a team, Wagner grabbed nine more draw controls than FDU (19-10), collected 10 more ground balls (25-15), shot the ball 14 more times (33-19), and put seven more on target (24-17).
Next up, the Green & White will face-off against Ivy League member Columbia on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:00 pm for its final non-conference game of the 2025 season at Robert Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium.Â
