University Park, PA – Sophomore
Flavio Vinci of the Wagner men's fencing team finished 16th at the NCAA Championships this weekend.
Vinci concluded the competition with ten victories, securing his spot among the top-16 fencers in the nation. He was also just two victories away from a top-12 placement and earning All-American status, and one win shy of a top-15 finish, mirroring his performance in last year's event.
Although he lost some very close battles in the fourth round, he bounced back by earning three wins in the fifth round.
These victories included a notable win over UNC's Elden Wood, who finished in the top-11, UPenn's Simon Kushkov, who placed 12th, and Princeton's Ronald Anglade, who finished 13th.
