Track & Field Concludes Indoor Regular Season At Fast Track Invite

Staten Island, NY — Wrapping up the regular indoor track & field season at the Fast Track Invite, Wagner's athletes put up a strong performance on Friday.

Twelve athletes competed in eleven events at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, with five of those resulting in a top-six finish.

Junior Julio Martinez led the Seahawks with first place in men's pole vault with a 4.65-meter finish. Joining him with a strong performance in the field events was thrower junior Franklin Simms, whose 15.60-meter shot put throw earned him second place in the field of 42 athletes.

In the men's 800-meter run, graduate Michael Hubert finished in second place with his 1:54.49 time, followed closely by sophomore Nigel Boboli whose 1:55.75 time put him at fifth place. Senior Kharlin Watkins had a strong day in the long jump, ultimately finishing sixth with his 6.83-meter jump. Senior Adrian Pocesta had a sixth-place finish as well, putting up a 15.55-meter performance in the men's weight throw.

On the women's side, junior Saranda Capandi's 3.05-meter pole vault earned her thirteenth place.

The Seahawks now look to the NEC Championships, looking to match last year's elite performances. The men's team finished in first place, while the women finished in third. This year's meet will be held February 16 and 17 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
