STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Seahawks opened their 2025-2026 indoor season on Saturday at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational.
Sophomore Florian Hinry won the 3,000m in 8:36.80m, followed by sophomore Ignacio San Juan in fifth place (9:12.19), junior Joel Solomon in sixth (9:16.43) and senior Hunter Longo in tenth (9:47.64).
In the field events, senior Eskil Njerve led the way with a 4.25m clearance to win pole vault. Sophomore Amir Shokry cleared 4.10m to finish fifth.
Freshman Noah Grant made a splash in his collegiate debut, winning the 300m with a 33.96 time, also running a 6.85 60m to finish third. Junior Jack Mason finished seventh with a 7.02 time. Sophomore Jaden Hobbs finished 12th.
Junior Jonathan Carman ran a 22.38 200m to finish third, joined in the top five by senior Dante Rodney with a 22.78 time.
Freshman Chase Rogers was another newcomer who had a big day for Wagner, finishing third in the 500m with a 1:06.09 time. Rodney finished a second behind in eighth. Carman placed tenth. Rogers also logged an 8.93 60m hurdles time.
In long jump, sophomore Ty Lawless logged a 6.76m long jump to finish third, with junior Khalid Brown finishing fifth and freshman Matthew Campbell finishing ninth.
Next up, Wagner will host the Seahawk Shootout on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
