Track & Field Announces Two Staff Additions

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Head track & field coach Marvin Azor has announced the additions of Alberto Garcia and Dolita Awala-Shaw to his staff prior to the 2025-2026 season.

Garcia will primarily coach the program's distance runners. Garcia has a range of experience across New York City, working at the high school and collegiate levels with both track & field and cross country programs.

Most recently, he coached at Manhattan University, where he worked with the team's jumpers. Prior to his time with the Jaspers, he worked at LIU and St. Francis Brooklyn. Garcia is also a known figure on Staten Island, spending over a decade at Notre Dame Academy as both an assistant and head coach.

Awala-Shaw comes to Wagner from BYU, where she was a sprinter for the Cougars for four years. She will work primarily with Wagner's sprinters.

While in Provo, she received USTFCCCA All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 4x100m and 4x400m in the 2023 outdoor season, as well as helping set a 4x100m school record (43.84) at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

The Seahawks will begin their indoor season on Saturday, December 6 at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, hosted by St. John's at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.
