STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wagner wrapped up 2025 at the Seahawk Shootout, it's final meet of the calendar year before its schedule resumes in January.
The Seahawks had a big day in the field events — senior Eskil Njerve won pole vault with a 4.35m clearance and junior Jack Mason did the same in long jump with a 7.33m performance.
Sophomore Ty Lawless finished seventh in long jump with a 6.78m jump. Mason also finished 12th in the 60m dash with a 6.98-second time.
Freshman Noah Grant finished third in the 60m dash with a 6.81-second time after winning NEC Rookie of the Week last week, followed just behind by senior Alex Taddeo, who ran a 6.83 in his first meet of the season.
Freshmen Ersell McCullen, Christopher Maruyama and Nnamdi Smith made their collegiate debuts at the Seahawk Shootout. McCullen logged a 8.96 time in the 60m hurdles to finish 18th, as well as running the opening leg of Wagner's 1:33.04 4x200 relay. Maruyama ran the second leg of that same relay, in addition to a 38.98 time in the 300m. Smith ran a 7.69 60m dash and 41.99 300m.
Wagner's 4x400 relay team, made up of junior Jonathan Carman, sophomore Jaden Hobbs, freshman Chase Rogers and senior Dante Rodney finished seventh with a 3:24.28 finish.
Hobbs ran a 7.13-second 60m dash in addition to the relay. Carman logged a 35.56-second 300m to finish 23rd. Rodney was just behind with a 35.60 time, finishing 24th. Rogers logged a 9.20-second time in the 60m hurdles.
Picking back up in 2026, the Seahawks will compete in the Spartan Invite on Friday, Jan. 9 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
