BROOKLYN, NY — The Wagner swimming and diving teams defeated LIU at the Steinberg Wellness Center on Saturday. The men's team narrowly edged out the Sharks 102-97, while the women's team won more comfortably, 132-96.
Fresh off their NEC Swimmer of the Week nods, sophomores
Florian Schumich and
Mia Goodale won a total of six events together. Goodale would win all four of her events, including the 50-yard freestyle (24.89) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.80). Schumich finished 2nd by three-hundredths of a second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.88) but made up for it with a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.10).
Sophomore
Gaya Savran continued her dominant season with four event wins of her own, sweeping the 200-yard events in freestyle (1:58.39), butterfly (2:09.73), and backstroke (2:11.40).
Another Seahawk that won multiple events was junior
Nikko Carrillo, who won both the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.84), and the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.61).
The Seahawks will return to the pool on November 20th, when they will participate in the Harold Anderson Invitational on the campus of Rhode Island. This invitational will finish up on Sunday, November 23.
