Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's basketball team (5-14, 2-5 NEC) dropped game to Saint Francis U (7-14, 5-3 NEC), 50-48, on Saturday afternoon at the Spiro Sports Center.

Taleah Washington led the effort for the Seahawks with nine points along with eight rebounds. Sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor, junior Angelie Ricard and freshman
Keana Foz all added eight a piece. Foz, the league steal leader, added two steals to her season total.
The game started with Irene Fernández de Caleya scoring the opening basket, giving the team an early spark. However, SFU quickly found their rhythm, outscoring Wagner 18-11 in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Wagner make a strong push, highlighted by
Klea Kaci hitting a three-pointer to give the Seahawks a 20-18 lead with 6:18 left in the quarter. SFU responded decisively, regaining control and heading into halftime with a 30-22 advantage.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks continued to fight back. Angelie Ricard took over offensively, scoring four consecutive baskets to help Wagner surge to a 36-34 lead with 3:56 remaining in the quarter. Despite the momentum shift, SFU managed to stay composed and held a slim 39-38 lead heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Wagner briefly took a 43-41 lead following a three-pointer by Washington. Later in the quarter, Wagner edged ahead once more, 46-45, after a free throw from Fabozzi. However, the Red Flash quickly regained the lead after knocking down a jumper and added two more after a pair of clutch free throws. On the next possesion, Foz turned the corner for a layup with :39 second remaining to put the team within one. The Seahawks forced a turnover but they were unable to convert on their next possesion and the Red Flash added one more point on a free throw. With the Seahawks down two, 50-48, they were blocked in the last shot attempt as they dropped their fifth NEC contest of the year.
