Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's basketball team (5-13, 2-4 NEC) dropped matchup against Mercyhurst (6-12, 3-4 NEC), 63-57, on Thursday night at the Spiro Sports Center.
The loss marks Wagner's fourth Northeast Conference (NEC) loss of the season as the Lakers tie up the two game season series 1-1.

Julia Fabozzi led the effort for the Seahawks with 15 points and six rebounds while Graduate student
Taleah Washington added 13 points and four assists. Freshman
Keana Foz recorded 10 points, six rebounds and tied a career-high five steals and junior
Irene Fernandez de Caleya recorded season-highs, eight points and eight rebounds.
The Lakers opened the night with the first seven points of the game. A layup by redshirt-sophomore
Klea Kaci got the scoring started for the Green & White as they knotted the game at 10, with 1:57 remaining in the quarter, thanks to a tip-in from Foz. At the end of the quarter, Washington connected ona shot from 22-feet out to give Wagner a 13-12 lead.
The Seahawks were outscored in the second quarter, 20-13, and Mercyhurst took a 32-26 advantage into the break. Wagner put together a 9-0 run in the third quarter to inch within two, 40-38, with 2:28 left in the frame. Fabozzi concluded the quarter with a pair of free throws and the Seahawks found themselves within one, 43-42.
Foz began the quarter with a layup to regain the lead for the Seahawks. In the fourth, the Green & White shot 33.3% compared to the Lakers 62.5 %. Mercyhurst got the lead back at the 5:50 mark and countered any Wagner run, as the Seahawks fell to Mercyhurst, 63-57.
Wagner is back in action on Saturday, January 25th against Saint Francis U at the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM.
