Seahawks Compete At Spartan Invitational

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Spartan Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, January 10.

On the men's side, junior Alex Taddeo took first place in the 200 meter dash. Taddeo's time of 21.53 set a new school record in the 200 meter.

Sophomore Jack Mason placed second in the long jump setting a new school record in the process. Mason's jump of 7.46 (24-5.75) pushes him up to 16th best in the country this season. In the weight throw, senior Adrian Pocesta finished in 2nd place with a throw of 15.53m while junior Christopher Milillo finished in fourth place finishing with a 15.37m. In the pole vault, junior Julio Martinez came in second place finishing with 4.62m.

On the women's side, senior Ruth Ann Chambers won first place in the 60 meter hurdles finishing in 8.78. Chambers also finished in third place in the 200 meter dash finishing with a time of 25.17 while sophomore June Fernandez finished in fifth with a time of 25.48. In the 60 meter dash, freshman Christine Manneh finished fourth place with a time of 7.83. In the 3000 meter run, senior Giavanna Comerford finished in second place with a time of 9:50.10. Following up behind her, freshman Rylee Ferretti finished in third place with a time of 10:01.69. Sophomores Magui Calvo and Victoria Ann Dziubela claimed third and fourth place in the 800 meter run with times of 2:19.38 and 2:20.13 respectively. In the 100 meter run junior Peyton Miller took fifth with a time of 3:15.65.

In the long jump, freshman Mia Petersen finished second place jumping 5.43m.

Next up, a portion of the team will return to action for the Ramapo College Season Opener on Friday, January 17 at the Armory Track, while other Seahawks will compete at the NYC Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
