Baltimore, MD - The Wagner women's soccer team earned a hard fought draw at Loyola (MD), 1-1, on Thursday evening at Ridley Athletic Complex.
In the opening minutes, senior Sam Hughes moved into second all-time in the program's saves list, passing Dana Honcharuk's (1999-00) mark of 262. Hughes finished the contest with six saves, moving her to 268 career saves.
Hughes came up clutch all throughout the game as she faced 17 shots from the Greyhounds. However, in the 22nd minute, she ceded a goal to fall behind, 1-0.
But just fifteen seconds later, freshman Anna Shepard scored her first career goal to even the score. Senior Claire Janis assisted on the rapid fire goal.
The rest of the contest saw each side compete to the fullest, yet neither could find the back of the net.
Graduate student Kayla Barbosa led the Seahawks with two shots, while Shepard and sophomore Alana Goldsmith made up the remaining two shots.
The Seahawks will return home as the program celebrates its seniors in its next matchup against Stonehill. The game is scheduled for Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 pm.
