Bridgewater, NJ - Dominic Palermo of the Wagner College men's track and field team was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Palermo was also named the NEC Scholar Athlete of the Year in the fall as a member of the Wagner men's cross country team.

At the NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Staten Island, NY native crossed the tape first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the second consecutive year, finishing nearly four seconds ahead of the field at 9:10.89. A year earlier, Palermo set the meet record in his signature event with a time of 9:07.69. Palermo also scored in the 5,000 meters at this year's meet, finishing fifth to contribute to the Seahawks' second place finish. 

Palermo went on to compete at NCAA Regionals in the steeplechase, where he was the lone NEC runner at the event.

Palermo received his MBA in Finance from Wagner in 2024.
