Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College softball team dropped both games against FDU Saturday, May 4 with scores of 9-6 and 1-0.
Game One Recap: Wagner 6-9 FDU
In game one, the Knights jumped to an early lead in the top of the first inning scoring one run before the Seahawks battled back scoring three runs in the bottom of the first off of a fielder's choice, wild pitch, and a single by junior Justine Carranza.
FDU put eight more runs on the board in the third, fourth and sixth inning.
Wagner started a late rally in the bottom of the sixth inning beginning with another base hit for Carranza followed by a double by freshman Sydney Chargualaf. Senior Brooke Wood earned her first hit of the day with a double up the middle scoring the second run before the third run scored off an error by FDU.
The rally was cut short in the seventh inning forcing a 9-6 loss for the Seahawks.
Game Two Recap: Wagner 0-1 FDU
Both teams were held scoreless for the first six innings despite big hits on both sides.
Senior Samantha Tran tripled to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning earning the lone hit for the Seahawks.
FDU scored one run in the top of the seventh inning and the Seahawks failed to answer back forcing a final score of 1-0.
This concludes the 2024 season for the Seahawks and they will look to pick up action again next fall.
