Brooklyn, NY - The Wagner College softball team dropped its doubleheader against Long Island University (LIU) Tuesday, April 23 with scores of 1-2 and 1-5.
Game One: Wagner 1-2 LIU
Both teams were held scoreless in the first two innings until LIU jumped ahead scoring two runs in the bottom of the third.
Wagner made a late run in the top of the seventh with freshman Sydney Chargualaf starting the rally with a triple to right field. Freshman Noelle Estephan scored the Seahawks lone run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The late run was cut short forcing a final score of 1-2.
Game Two: Wagner 1-5 LIU
The Seahawks jumped to an early lead with a double steal by freshmen Sydnie Trujillo and Lea Rachal scoring one run in the top of the first. This was the lone run for the Seahawks in game two.
LIU scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more runs in the bottom of the sixth making it a 1-5 loss for the Seahawks.
Next up, the Seahawks will head back to Brooklyn to take on the Sharks in a single game Wednesday, April 24.
