Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped a Metro Atlantic Conference (MAAC) contest to Canisius, 9-7, on Saturday afternoon.
After the Golden Griffins dropped out to a 3–0 lead, the Seahawks closed the first quarter on a 2-0 run as graduate student CJ Sweitzer and Jake Mitchell found the back of the net. Canisius took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.
The Golden Griffins opened the second quarter on a 2-0 run to take a 5-2 lead, the Seahawks closed the first half on a 3-0 run. Senior Nick Martini tallied all three goals to tie the game at five entering the second half.
Both sides tallied just one goal each in the third quarter, Nick Martini netted his fourth goal of the game in the third quarter as the game entered the fourth tied at six.
Canisius outscored the Seahawks 3-1 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.
Wagner will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 20 when they travel to Riverdale, NY to take on Manhattan at 4:00 pm.
