Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College softball team dropped the first two games of its conference series against Merrimack Friday, March 29 with scores of 4-6, 3-6.
Game One Recap: Wagner 4-6 Merrimack
The Seahawks earned their first two runs in the bottom of the third as junior Payton Janicki drove a single to right center to score freshman Lea Rachal before freshman Sydnie Trujillo scored Janicki off of a single to right field.
Wagner scored their last two runs in the bottom of the fourth as Rachal drove in two runs with a single to center field.
The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning and four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead and eventually won with a final score of 4-6.
Game Two Recap: Wagner 3-6 Merrimack
The Seahawks jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs. Rachal earned her third RBI on the day as she scored senior Sam Tran. Merrimack answered back and tied it up after scoring three runs in the top of the third inning.
The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning and held the Seahawks scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to force a final score of 3-6.
The Seahawks are back in action Saturday, March 30 at home for the last game of the series at 12:00 PM.
