Softball Drops Final Game In Sacred Heart Series

Fairfield, CT - The Wagner College softball team dropped its final game against Sacred Heart on Sunday, 5-3. 

Despite the Seahawks out hitting the Pioneers 9-7, they fell short after battling for seven innings. 

Junior Justine Carranza, sophomore Payton Janicki and freshman Sydnie Trujillo led the Seahawks with two hits a piece. 

After two scoreless innings the Pioneers jumped ahead with four runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Green and White answered back in the top of the fourth as freshman Abby Moran earned her first RBI of the year, scoring Janicki. Carranza also earned an RBI in the fourth as she collected her first hit of the game scoring Trujillo. 

In the top of the seventh, Wagner made a late push to tie the game as they tallied one run off a single by Trujillo. 

Next time out, the Seahawks will travel to Queens, NY to take on St. John's on Tuesday, March 19.
