Charlotte Müller Earns NEC Offensive Player Of The Week Honor

Bridgewater, NJ - Wagner College field hockey midfield sophomore Charlotte Müller has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

In an undefeated weekend of play, Müller led the Seahawks to two overtime wins against conference opponents Stonehill and Saint Francis U as the Green & White moved to 9-5 on the season, with a 5-1 mark in NEC play.

Against the Skyhawks, Muller scored Wagner's first and third goals, including the game-winning rebound shot in the first overtime period. In the opening period, graduate student Cami Valor dished the ball in front of the goal as Müller tapped in her sixth goal of the year.

In overtime, sophomore Pilar Lorenzini put a shot on target which moved the Skyhawks' goalkeeper. Müller was standing at the right place at the right time to put the ball into the cage, granting the Seahawks the win.

Two days later against Saint Francis U, Müller scored her eight of the season after an aggressive attack down the left side of the shooting circle. The Bremen, Germany native would not be denied as she put back her first shot to extend Wagner's lead to two.

Müller added an assist in the 5-4 win over the Red Flash, assisting Lorenzini off of a corner opportunity in the first frame of competition.

Along with her eight goals and four assists, Müller has added over 789 minutes of game action across 13 starts during her sophomore season on Grymes Hill.

Müller becomes the sixth different Seahawk all-time, and third this season, to earn the NEC's Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Most recently, Lofstedt received the nod on October 1, after scoring two goals against LIU in a 4-0 victory. Before Lofstedt, Sophomore Floortje Leunisse received the award back on September 17, after scoring two goals against Bucknell in a 4-0 win.

Along with Müller, Leunisse and graduate student Cami Valor were named NEC Prime Performers.

Leunisse scored Wagner's second goal against Stonehill and assisted the Green & White's third goal against the Red Flash. Valor put away the game-winning overtime goal against Saint Francis U to help Wagner improve its overall record to 9-5, with a 5-1 mark in conference play.

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to North Andover, MA for an NEC matchup with the Merrimack Warriors. Opening pass-back for that game is set to begin at noon on Friday, October 25.
