Emma Lofstedt And Saar Van Dalen Sweep NEC Weekly Awards

Bridgewater, NJ - Wagner College senior captain Emma Lofstedt and freshman goalkeeper Saar van Dalen earned Northeast Conference's (NEC) weekly awards for their performances against LIU and Columbia in a 2-0 weekend for the Seahawks.

Announced by the conference on Tuesday, Lofstedt earned the NEC Offensive Player of the Week honor after a five point, two-goal one-assist, showing against conference rival LIU.

Lofstedt scored Wagner's first and third goals against the Sharks, and assisted sophomore Floortje Leunisse on the Green & White's second score of the game.

On the season, the Durban, South Africa native has accumulated four assists with her two goals, logging 546 minutes in total.

Lofstedt becomes the fifth different Wagner athlete to earn the NEC's Offensive Player of the Week honor. Most recently, Leunisse received the nod back on September 17, after scoring two goals against Bucknell in a 4-0 victory.

Van Dalen received her second NEC Rookie of the Week nod and the first Defensive Player of the Week award of her collegiate career. The Houten, Netherlands native rejected two shots against LIU before saving three against Columbia in an overtime victory.

Across Wagner's last four games, van Dalen has allowed zero goals across her last 250 minutes, saving eight shots during the span.

During the season, van Dalen accumulated a record of 6-3 during her first year on Grymes Hill. Van Dalen has started all nine games she has appeared in, saving 35 shots in total with a 77.8% save percentage in over 530 minutes of game action.

Earlier this year, van Dalen earned her first NEC Defensive Player of the Week nod on September 17 after saving five shots in a win against Bucknell and seven in a loss against Vermont.

Van Dalen becomes the second Seahawk to earn the Defensive Player of the Week honor after Daisy Ruhle receiving the award four times during her playing career.

Along with a Defensive Player of the Week nod, van Dalen was also tabbed as the conference's Rookie of the Week. Van Dalen also becomes the fifth Seahawk to earn the award, after Liselotte Koop earned the honor three separate times during the 2021 season.

Over the course of the last four games, Wagner has outscored their opponents 14-0.

Additionally, freshman Evie de Baar earned an NEC Prime Performer nod for scoring the game-winning goal against Columbia in overtime on Sunday, September 29.

Next up, Lofstedt, van Dalen, and the rest of the Seahawks will travel to Fairfield to take on the Stags on Friday, October 4. Opening pass-back is set for 3:00 pm.
