Staten Island, NY - Head coach Craig Noto of the Wagner baseball team welcomes 19 newcomers to the program ahead of the 2024 season.
"The goals year to year with our recruiting classes is to identify talented, high academic student athletes who personify the competitive spirit it takes to fit into the culture of a winning program; both on and off the field," Noto said. "We are looking for mature, engaged athletes who care. With this class I believe we have secured character young men who have an opportunity to make an impact on our program over their time on Grymes Hill and beyond."
Freshmen
Christopher Collina - RHP - Marlboro, NJ
Christopher was a two-year varsity starting pitcher at Marlboro High School. According to Perfect Game, he was ranked as the No. 35 right handed pitcher in New Jersey and No. 500 overall right handed pitcher.
Keith Davis - LHP - Manassas, VA
A three-year varsity starter at Osbourn Park High School, Keith was named MVP of the team from 2021-23. He was recognized as an All-District Second Team member in 2022 and 2023.
Leo Doyle - Outfield - Staten Island, NY
Was a CHSAA First Team All-City selection while at Monsignor Farrell High School. Leo was a two-time Advance All-Star and was honored as his high school's defensive player of the year in 2022 and offensive player of the year in 2023.
Rocco Gaeta - Outfield - Jupiter, FL
Rocco was a First Team All-3A selection in Florida, leading the district in stolen bases. His .505 on-base percentage helped his high school, the Benjamin School, reach top-five status in Florida. His father Bobby played basketball at Wagner.
Jack Hansen - LHP - Holden, MA
Attended Wachusett Regional High School, ranking as the No. 64 overall player in Massachusetts, according to Perfect Game.
Christian Knight - Catcher - Concord Township, OH
Christian was named All-Conference three times and All-County twice while at Painesville Riverside High School. He was named Lake County's Division I Player of the Year and was a PBR Ohio Division I All-State selection in 2022 and 2023. The freshman catcher was also named a Preseason All-American in 2022 and 2023 by Perfect Game.
Matthew Moconyi - Infield - Wallingford, CT
Was a varsity starter for three years at Mark T. Sheehan High School. Matthew was named a Second Team All-SCC selection in 2022 before being honored as an All-State and First Team All-SCC selection in 2023.
Connor Roche - Infield - Westwood, NJ
Connor was a two-time All-County selection in Bergen County, collecting 100 career hits during his four year varsity career at Westwood High School.
Josiah Ross - Outfield - Newington, CT
Played football and basketball alongside baseball during his time at Newington High School. Josiah made All-Conference and All-State twice and won Newington's Male Athlete of the Year award.
Diego Tavarez - Infield - Spotswood, NJ
Diego played varsity baseball all four years at Ranney High School. He was also an Athletics Honors Society recipient.Â
Griffin White - RHP - Columbus, OH
Griffin was a two-time All-OCC award winner at Olentangy Berlin High School. He holds the record for most career strikeouts in school history and also threw the first no-hitter in school history.
LJ Wolff - LHP - Abington, PA
Threw the first no-hitter in school history at Abington High School, hurling 16 strikeouts in the feat. LJ compiled 94 strikeouts across 47 innings pitched during his senior year at Abington.
Transfers
Connor Bane - Outfield - Aliso Viejo, CA
Originally walked on and redshirted at Oregon before spending two seasons at RCSJ-Cumberland in Camden County, NJ. Batted .403 during his first season and .345 during his second season before transferring to Wagner.
Daniel Barrera - RHP - Chino Hills, CA
Previously played at Pacific, racking up 13 appearances between his freshman and sophomore campaigns. Daniel struck out 11 batters across 12.2 innings this past season.
Nate Garcia - RHP - Claremont, CA
Nate compiled at 9.72 K/9 across 58.1 innings during his two seasons at Chaffey Community College. He pitched to a 3.82 ERA in 2023 across 15 appearances.
Nicholas Mazzotta - Infield/RHP - Somers, NY
No stranger to the Northeast Conference, Nicholas spent his freshman season at Fairleigh Dickinson, pitching in eight games (five starts) and batting .294 with a .974 OPS across 34 at-bats.
Bryce Phelps - Outfield - Denver, IA
Bryce spent two seasons at Southeastern Community College, compiling a .324 batting average. In his sophomore season, Bryce batted .354, earning JUCO World Series All-Tournament Team status.
Albert Serrano - Outfield - Bronx, NY
Originally at Grayson College, Albert spent this past season at Florida SouthWestern College where he had a .467 slugging percentage with ten doubles, three triples and seven home runs.
Andrew Stanley - RHP - Huntington Beach, CA
Andrew spent two seasons at Golden West Community College, pitching 54.2 innings and striking out 44 batters.
