Syracuse, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest at Syracuse 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Wagner was able to open the scoring 5:42 into the contest as junior Rebecca Desiderio deflected a shot off a corner opportunity from classmate Emma Lofstedt. Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Black kept the Orange off the scoresheet with two saves in the opening 15 minutes.
Syracuse went on to score three goals in the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead into halftime. Sam Black stopped six shots in the second.Â
In the third quarter, Syracuse was able to find the back of the net twice on six shots.Â
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 15 minutes of the contest as Syracuse held on for the 5-1 victory.
Wagner will be back in action on Friday, September 22 when they travel to Lewisburg, PA to take on Bucknell at 4:00 pm.
