Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's soccer team is set to open its 2023 home schedule on Thursday, August 24 when it hosts Army at 7:00 pm.
This will be the first Wagner home event on the 2023-24 athletic calendar.
Both teams will be searching for their first win of the season as the Seahawks come into the contest with a 0-2 record, while the Black Knights come in with a 0-1-1 record.
Wagner dropped its first two games of the season and will be looking for a rebound. Army came away with a tie against Wake Forest its last time out.
Senior Kayla Barbosa and graduate student Juliana Rafaniello — both named captains ahead of the 2023 season — lead the team with 175 and 152 minutes played, respectively. Junior Kyle McNally, who missed all of last season, has logged 152 minutes as well for Wagner's midfield.
Both junior Sam Hughes and sophomore Shae McGinty have started a game in goal for the Seahawks. Hughes made six saves and allowed four goals at Fordham, while McGinty made three saves and allowed one goal at Rider.
For the freshmen, it has been Caroline Kessler, Jess Maraia and Alana Goldsmith who have started both games thus far for head coach Phil Casella's squad.
