Bridgewater, NJ - The Wagner College field hockey team was picked tied for second in the Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason poll, the conference announced on Friday afternoon.

The Seahawks were picked alongside Rider, the Broncs and the Seahawks earned a share of the NEC regular season title last season.

This is the third consecutive season the Seahawks have been picked in the top-three of the NEC preseason poll. The Seahawks were picked third in the 2021 poll and picked second in the 2022 poll.

Wagner will be looking to make its third consecutive NEC Tournament appearance and third in program history.

Fairfield was picked to win the NEC as they received six first-place votes as Wagner was picked tied for second with two first-place votes. The defending NEC champions, Rider, did not receive a first-place vote in the poll.

Behind the top-three was LIU, Saint Francis U, Sacred Heart, Merrimack and Stonehill.

The Seahawks will begin the 2023 season on Friday, August 25 at Lafayette.
