Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team earned a doubleheader split against Iona on Tuesday afternoon. The Seahawks earned a 4-0 win in game two after falling 3-0 in game one.

In the top of the seventh, Wagner added three insurance runs to pull away from the Gaels. A bunt single by graduate student
Penelope Russ doubled Wagner's lead, before a sacrifice fly by sophomore
Kate Wolf made it 3-0 in favor of the Green and White.

Justine Carranza came through with an RBI double to give the Seahawks a 4-0 advantage.

Eve Harvey tossed a complete game shutout for her 33th career victory, which ties her for third place on the all-time wins list. Harvey struck out four batters while limiting Iona to just three hits on the day.
The Seahawks held a 13-3 advantage in hits, with Garcia collecting three hits in the contest.

The Gaels took the lead on a solo home run in the third before adding two runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the victory.

Natalie Rodriguez was charged with the loss in the circle, striking out five batters while tossing the full six innings.
The Seahawks return to Northeast Conference (NEC) action this weekend, when Wagner travels to Merrimack for a three-game series.
