Men’s Tennis Concludes Regular Season; Women’s Tennis Picks Up Victory At Coppin State

Baltimore, MD - Both Wagner College men's and women's tennis traveled to Baltimore, MD for a non-conference dual against the Coppin State Eagles at the Physical Education Complex, on Sunday.

On the women's side, junior Gabrielle Perraudin continues her dominate play as she defeated the Eagles Hana El Sherif, 6-1, 6-3, in the #1 singles spot. This is Perraudin's sixth consecutive victory, four coming from the #1 singles position, and two coming from the #2 singles position.

Things were looking bleak for the Seahawks as they dropped the doubles point despite a win at the #2 spot from freshman Jasmine Lin and junior Gabrielle Perraudin. Wagner made quick work on courts #1-3 before the Eagles won matches at #4 and #6 to tie the match at 3-3. With the dual tied 3-3, freshman Jasmine Lin won the match-decider in 3 sets to seal the win for Wagner, Lin battled back from a set down to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Junior Tara Dakic won at #2, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Paula Uy was up 3-0 in her first set when her opponent retired from injury.

Wagner picked up a road win on Sunday, 4-3 over Coppin State University at the courts in Clifton Park, Baltimore.

Next up, the women's tennis team will conclude their regular season against Monmouth. This dual is set for Thursday, April 13th. First serve is 2:00 pm.

Right after that junior Rodrigo Perez retired Luka Markovic in #1 singles, bringing the Green & White within striking distance of the Eagles.

Senior Omar Loutfy was able to force a third set in #3 singles, but would drop the point, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The dual came down to #2 doubles where the score was tied 3-3, and senior Tejasvi Mehra dropped the clinching third set to Vansh Kapoor, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Coppin State would prevail 4-3.
