Fairfield, CT – The Wagner College women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a Northeast Conference (NEC) loss at Sacred Heart on Thursday evening.
The Pioneers opened the contest on a 10-2 run through the first five minutes and they would not relinquish the lead throughout the contest. Wagner fought back throughout the rest of the opening frame as the Pioneers took an 18-12 lead into the second.
Sacred Heart outscored the Seahawks 20-15 in the second to take a 38-27 advantage into halftime. Fifth year senior
Kem Nwabudu led the way for Wagner in the first half with seven points and three rebounds.
Wagner outscored Sacred Heart 14-12 in the third quarter as they were able to cut the Pioneers lead to 46-41 with 1:42 remaining in the third.
The two sides traded buckets in the fourth quarter as Wagner brought the Sacred Heart lead down to four with 50 seconds left but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers escaped with the win.

Alex Cowan led the way for Wagner offensively with 18 points as
Kem Nwabudu chipped in 12 points.
The Seahawks will travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC Quarterfinals on Monday, March 6 at 7:00 pm.
