Easton, PA - After posting a program best ninth place finish in the NIWFA Championships, six participants and three alternates will make the trip to Lafayette College to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals on Saturday.
Sophomores Katerina Cervenkova, Alex Cole and Simona Nedyalkova, and senior Ava De La Cruz will return to the regionals after making the trip last season. Joining them will be first time competitors in freshmen Sofia Lopez Meneses and Fanny Straub.
Seniors Anastasia Nardone and Lauren Foley, and graduate student Cleo Burton are alternates.
Cervenkova and Lopez Meneses will represent the Seahawks in the épée competition. Nedyalkova and Straub will compete in the sabre competition. Rounding out the six is De La Cruz and Cole in the foil competition.
De La Cruz is the veteran in this event for Wagner as she makes her third trip to the regionals. Cervenkova, Cole and Nedyalkova are making their second trip in just two years with the program.
At last year's regionals, Cervenkova set a program best 19th place finish in the épée competition. Nedyalkova placed 26th in the sabre competition, while De La Cruz and Cole placed 31st and 36th, respectively, in the foil competition.Â
The event begins at 9:00 am on Saturday.
