Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team dropped a Northeast Conference (NEC) contest to St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday Night.
Wagner came out firing in the opening quarter as they took a 20-13 lead behind five points from redshirt junior
Alex Cowan and senior
Drayah Heyward. In the first quarter, Wagner had a lead of 12.
In the second quarter, the Terriers outscored the Seahawks 24-14. The Seahawks scored nine bench points.
Down three at the half, the Seahawks opened the second half on a 7-0 run as they took a 41-37 lead.
The Terriers went on to outscore the Seahawks 23-16 for the remainder of the third quarter as
Alex Cowan and sophomore
Rakisha Ballinger tallied eight points for Wagner.
Down 60-57 entering the fourth quarter, the teams traded baskets down the stretch but it wasn't enough for Wagner to overcome the St. Francis Brooklyn lead.
Alex Cowan tallied a game-high 13 fourth quarter points.
Cowan finished the game with a team-high 26 points and seven rebounds.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Saturday, January 11 at LIU, tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
