Staten Island, NY - Both Wagner men's and women's and field teams competed in the first day of the NEC Indoor Championships at the Ocean Breeze Park And Field Athletic Complex on Staten Island on Sunday.
With 39 points, Wagner, which is coming off back-to-back indoor and outdoor sweeps, sits on top of the team leaderboard heading into Championship Monday. The Seahawks hold a 12-point lead over second-place CCSU. Four points separate the remaining two teams in the top-half of standings, as Saint Francis U is third with 23 points while Merrimack follows with 19.

The lone scored track event of Sunday's opening day — the 3,000m run — saw the Seahawks finish off the day with eight more points after junior Dominic Palermo's second-place showing (8:34.14).
On the track, the Seahawks landed 10 qualifiers over six events, including three in the mile, two in the 800m and two in the 200m going into Monday's finals.
