Teaneck, NJ – The Wagner College women's basketball team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 78-52 on Saturday.
The two sides combined to shoot 9-30 in the opening frame as the Knights held a 13-11 lead after the quarter. Senior
Drayah Heyward scored six of the 11 points for Wagner, the Newark, NJ native also chipped in six rebounds in the opening 10 minutes.
In a tight second quarter, the Knights outscored the Seahawks 18-13. With the Knights holding a 26-24 lead, they ended the first half on a 5-0 run to take a 31-24 lead into halftime. Graduate student
Zhaneia Thybulle netted eight points in the second quarter on 4-6 shooting.
The Knights opened up the contest in the third quarter as its lead grew to as big as 23 points in the frame. Fairleigh Dickinson outscored Wagner 25-12 in the third, redshirt junior
Alex Cowan chipped in a team-high six points in the third.
The Knights outscored the Seahawks 22-16 in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.
Drayah Heyward tallied a team-high 16 points to go along with five rebounds.
Wagner will be back in action on Thursday, February 23 when they travel to Stonehill, tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
