Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team earned a 62-52 Northeast Conference (NEC) win over Central Connecticut State on Thursday evening.
In a tight first quarter, the Blue Devils outscored the Seahawks 13-12. Graduate student
Zhaneia Thybulle led the way for Wagner in the first with five points. Six of Wagner's 12 first quarter points came inside the paint.
CCSU outscored Wagner 14-11 in the second quarter as Wagner shot 4-13 from the floor. Senior
Drayah Heyward led the way for Wagner with five points in the second quarter.
Down four in the second, the Seahawks outscored 15-9 behind seven points from redshirt junior
Alex Cowan. As a team, the Seahawks shot 7-17 in the third quarter.
The Seahawks put a stamp on the contest in the fourth quarter as they tallied 24 points.
Alex Cowan led the way with 10 points on 8-8 shooting from the free throw line.
Zhaneia Thybulle also chipped in eight points in the win.
Alex Cowan led the way for Wagner with 21 points and six rebounds while
Zhaneia Thybulle tallied 17 points on 6-11 shooting.
Drayah Heyward tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Saturday, February 18 when the Seahawks travel to Teaneck, NJ to take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 4:00 pm on ESPN3 and SNY.
