Piscataway, NJ - The Wagner College women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game at Rutgers, 86-43 on Thursday evening.
In the opening quarter, Rutgers outscored Wagner 21-4. Wagner scored all four of its points in the paint as junior Rakisha Ballinger and senior Cyan Dyke each had two points. Freshman Kiera Edmonds notched four rebounds in the opening 10 minutes.
Rutgers carried its momentum into the second quarter as they outscored Wagner 27-9. Kiera Edmonds led the way offensively in the second quarter with four points as graduate student Taleah Washington added three points.
The Scarlet Knights took a 48-13 lead into halftime.
The Seahawks tallied their highest points total in the third quarter with 17. Rakisha Ballinger led the way with five points as six Seahawks were able to score. Ballinger also notched two steals in the frame.
The Seahawks recorded seven steals in the final frame as junior Paige Lyons and Rakisha Ballinger each tallied three. Junior Semie Brar also tallied a steal in the fourth quarter.
Rakisha Ballinger led the way offensively for Wagner with 12 points while recording five steals and two rebounds.
Paige Lyons chipped in seven points and five steals.
Wagner will be back in action on Sunday, November 12 when they travel to Hempstead, NY to take on Hofstra at 2:00 pm.
